Developing a Dynamic Scientific and Academic Workforce

Each year, MBL courses attract a broad population of ~500 trainees from ~300 institutions and ~60 countries. Students are empowered to pursue science at the very highest level and work directly with outstanding faculty from around the world to enable novel experiments that test new ideas and foster a network of collaboration.

At MBL, we believe cost should never be a barrier to scientific discovery and training. Most of our advanced research training courses offer significant financial aid, including scholarships based on need. We encourage all applicants to apply regardless of financial circumstances. If you are accepted, you will have the opportunity to apply for financial aid to help offset the cost of tuition, room, and board.

Note: A small number of courses have different funding structures—please review details on each course’s page.

MBL courses derive major support from grants awarded by the Burroughs Wellcome FundThe Grass Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the National Institutes of Health, Promega, the National Science Foundation, the Simons Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy.
